One of the earliest high school Model United Nations organizations in the nation, Qingdao No. 2 Middle School MUN Association was established in 2005. Since its start, it has helped cultivate global citizens with a sense of civic duty and historical responsibility. At the same time, as a pioneer of high school MUN, the association has spread MUN’s influence throughout Shandong province.

 

From 2006 to 2008, Qingdao No. 2 Middle School MUN Association hosted the annual Qingdao High School MUN Conference, spreading the influence of MUN throughout Qingdao. The Association’s contribution to MUN caught then-Foreign Minister Zhaoxing Li’s attention and earned it a letter of congratulations from him. In 2009, Qingdao No. 2 Middle School MUN Association hosted the first Shandong High School MUN Conference, and founded the Shandong MUN Association, propelling MUN to provincial popularity. From 2015, the Association has been dedicated to providing the best conference experience by independently hosting the annual Horizon National MUN Conference for High School Students.

 

Apart from organizing events, the Association has also been actively participating in MUN meetings around the world. Qingdao No. 2 Middle School has been invited multiple times to attend the international GCIMUN in New York City, returning with honors. Delegates have been consistently awarded titles “Best Delegate”, “Outstanding Delegate”, and “Outstanding Team” in key national conferences such as Peking University National MUN for High School Students (PKUNMUN), Fudan University International MUN (FDUIMUN), and Huiwen National MUN (NKMUN). 

 

Today’s globalized world is changing at a rate faster than ever. Qingdao No. 2 Middle School will continue to spread Model UN and help educate informed citizens of the world. With a “spirit of independence, and freedom of thought”, holding academic value above all else, the MUNers at Qingdao No. 2 Middle School persist in discovering and learning.
